Ava Gurba (She/Her) Executive Team Ava is currently an MS student in Neuroscience in the United States. I have been a huge disabled self-advocate during my time in higher education and am passionate about diversity, inclusion, and equity in higher education and STEM. As someone who has faced many challenges as a disabled individual in higher education, I believe Disabled Empowerment in Higher Education Month can really amplify disabled voices in higher education and hopefully demonstrate to nondisabled people why disability inclusion is an important issue within education and employment. By sharing disabled stories and the issues within academia, I hope that we can start to drive change within higher education. |
Linda Corcoran (she/they) Executive Team Linda is currently a Teagsc Walsh Scholar completing an MSc (by research) in Food Science at University College Cork and Teagasc Ashtown (Ireland). Their research looks at linking consumer liking to steer feeding systems using novel sensory methods. Being an LGBTQ+ researcher with multiple invisible disabilities, Linda is very passionate about diversity and inclusion as well as creating safe, accessible spaces. They are on the Executive Team for Disabled in Higher Ed but are also a Blog Editor and Moderator for the Disabled Academic Collective, a Social Media Coordinator for PhD Balance and Accessibility Director for Dragonfly Mental Health. |
